The Test of Consciousness is…

The worst human folly is the refusal to face one’s dark side. There is no arguing this fact, only avoidance of it. That dark side always becomes someone else’s problem until it is faced. Our fucked up world will praise you if you can find ways to project your garbage on to others and get away with it. Example – those who run the world.

The false duality of “us vs them” in our mind controlled world exists largely upon the impetus to seek and make straw-men and scapegoats.

There is a great vacuum in many. Where there should be inward looking there is lashing out. Where there should be self-house cleaning and scrutiny of one’s sacred cows/beliefs/biases/associations/leaders/champions there is projection and flinging of mud.

Everyone has a sad story about how they are a victim. Yet too many people are victims eager to become bullies and abusers. This secret impulse runs unchecked because it stems from the shadow and blind spots. Far too many seek to win the game of dominance-over-others (and unconsciously appoint authority figures to be their champion enforcers), instead of working to win the game of self mastery and consciousness within.

Far too many are secretly eager in their shadows, in self absorption; emboldened in ego, to rationalize, to champion selfishness. The less we develop the discipline to face and handle our shadows the more we become lax in letting our shadows and dark sides take over.

One can not consider their self truly conscious until they realize the hypocrisy in that. Even the biggest politicians, celebrities, religious leaders, even rocket scientists are not truly CONSCIOUS if they have not realized the hypocrisy in that… and done something about it in their selves and in their own lives.

We are not truly conscious or intelligent until we realize this.

Real consciousness is born in many moments of self humility, of not knowing the answers, even in scary shaky moments, even shocks to the system that all bring self awareness. It’s just the true self’s way of telling the ego to come back home to center. Breaking it down. What is disillusioned, may be replaced with true substance and authentic character.

Although, I have a harsh attitude toward bullshit. The way I see it, one hasn’t been through enough if they haven’t learned this lesson yet. The lesson where humility and wisdom begin.

No one is on the path until they’ve been cracked open by a few shocks and fallen to their knees for the path. Humbly opened up to the path and hungrily sought love and enlightenment with the screaming core of their being.

Wakeful consciousness begins where a humbling realization of one’s hypocrisy begins… which is where the ego in a false sense begins to end. One can accept and can be hungry for this kind of “death”, or go to sleep and wait for physical literal pains and nights to befall them.

Strengthening The Light Strengthens Us

I think I’m nowhere to be found on the political spectrum. The world is a tough place, yeah. So we have to put our own efforts in. At the same time it can be so cruel that it is a good thing to help (when we can) others find their feet, their step, or maybe heal their feet.

I think the madness and cruelty of the world can really have a corrupting effect on us. It can really turn people into overly egotistic, judgmental, negative something or others…

So I try to find the good in all sides. I have left leaning friends, I have right leaning friends. I have religious, spiritual, and atheistic friends. I try to listen to the knowledge and compassion in all of them.

It’s a cruel world and I think in some ways it’s been made that way to corrupt us. To make us into Orcs, like fallen Elves (LOTR reference). It becomes easy for the darkness and madness to take center stage in our eye’s and fill our realities.

That’s why we should focus on the light in ourselves, each other, everywhere. In different opinions, ideas, sides. It’s not about duality. It’s about finding the quality and follies in both sides.

The only counterbalance to the darkness out there is focusing on the light in all things. I don’t mean in an “Everyone gets a sticker” kind of way. I mean in a way that takes strength and effort to cultivate that light and encourage it in others. I wish we did that more.

Just because we focus on the light doesn’t mean we become blind to the darkness in the world. It means that we become stronger and develop self command, so the darkness doesn’t possess us. It means seeing the corruption and pain with knowledge and empathy.

Focusing on the quality in ourselves and others makes that light a stronger reality. If some people don’t seem to have any light, then focus on those who do. Those who don’t will want to catch up eventually and leave the darkness of chaos and separation from the light to be part of the true “in” crowd.

The more we focus on and exercise the light the easier it becomes because it begins to take center stage.

It’s like a muscle, all muscles become stronger when exercised.

The Two Men in Man

There are two men in every man. There is his ego, his superficial self which you come to know in waking time.

There is his soul.  This is under the surface and unspoken. Yet it does slip through in speech occasionally, in symbolic actions and timings, and the actions a man takes despite what his ego says.

If you want to know a man pay less attention to his ego and what he says. The goodness or negativity of a man is told from his soul despite proclamations he makes on the surface. It is from within that men act from. Many are unconscious of what is driving them but this does not change what is driving them.

We live in a world where many men make proclamations on the surface, all their energy is invested in force and extroverted action. This has made man into a hypocrite and something of a shell.

So a man must awaken the sleeper within. He must humble his brash surface and go within, discover his soul. There he must do clearing and atonement, depending on its nature. He must get in touch with his true self and quest to consciously act in accordance with the eternal breath that gives him life and the unconditional heart which gives him his pulse and sentience. He must strive to act with the positive aspects of his soul. He must endeavor to act in “right action”, or conscious use of will in all that he does.

In this way man does not need salvation, he walks a path that is his salvation.

A man’s path becomes him whether he is conscious of it or not.

Don’t Vote Third Party! The Lesser Evils Await!

To everyone trying to dissuade others from voting “third party” or whatever – YUCK.

Seriously, YUCK. I hate pseudo plea pulls at the intellect and sympathy like that. I hate the way these arguments use subtle authoritarian angles and seek to push the fear buttons in others.

“I understand the need for third parties and your passion for them, but you must vote for such and such because of the greater evil”

YUCK.

Our world is already on a road of destruction and in desperate need of change. WE are in desperate need of a sense of urgency. It’s only a matter of time before there’s a Fukushima in the U.S., or fracking hits a fault line, or there’s world war 3.

We already live in a country that doesn’t give a shit about lead in drinking water. It’s not outlandish to conclude that greed and apathy rule not just our water supply but much of our modern world.

There’s so much destruction and our “leaders” don’t care! These are not good times in which to turn the mind off!

If we’re lucky we’ll use the bumps along the way to wake up. To withdraw our energy and consent from our own downfall.

I’m voting for anyone but the two “evils” because I care about my self, perhaps karma. Seriously, if the world goes to shit I want to know that I didn’t support one crook over another. I have self respect and it is a respect that deeply cares about others too, about survival on a deeper and long term level not just what’s happening on the news today.

There is no good reason to support any evil, lesser or not, if one cares about their integrity.

If it takes decades for the masses to wake up and withdraw their support from false and destructive roads, and explore other options, so be it!  We are in the mess we’re in because people have lost touch and “gone along to get along” too much. We think we’re thinking long term when putting support toward the “lesser” of evils but we’re merely taking a slower road to hell.

Long term vision is something many have lost.  We’ve lost the common sense to include the survival of our hearts and souls in our practical thinking.

The only way we can save ourselves from this mess is by WAKING UP.

Commend those with the strength and conviction to do so TODAY. Don’t patronize and condescend them.

It’s not smart to condescend those who think for their selves. You will be such a person yourself some day if you aren’t already, and the “karma” we accumulate for kicking others for thinking for themselves can be ruthless. It’s the most difficult test of the soul anyone faces in this world, it’s the loneliest and harshest test. Few want to face it so they stay asleep.

There’s nothing wrong with that (we wake up when ready), but it’s not good to attack those who do challenge themselves and question the world. It’s better to listen and learn from them as we will be them ourselves some day.

It’s always better to be awake today than pay for it tomorrow. Yet there are many extenuating circumstances in which we think we must “go along to get along”. Just because we have to do that sometimes doesn’t mean we should be ok with it. Not being ok with it is what makes us human.

It’s the conflict, the nagging itch within that makes us alive. As soon as we give that up and go to sleep we are no longer living.

Condescension toward those who have courage to think for themselves is, always has been, and always will be shameful.

Maybe it’s better to stop trying to convert them and rather stop, listen, and learn from them.

The First Order Of Business

Watching the RNC… one of the tragedies of humanity is that we usually gain the ability to hurt and destroy life before we gain the conscience to appreciate it.

There’s a lot of people playing with dark emotions these days – hate and anger – without the self discipline or composure to handle them without being consumed by them.

Maybe I’m too Zen Jedi about things to be commenting on politics, but I believe the first order of business is self mastery. Especially the ego and emotions.

The world out there, especially politics, is full of avenues that are making it easy for people to leave their self control and consciences behind.

That is not the message to be buying into.

Men need to start taking pride in their self mastery, not in how loud, forceful, violent they can be toward others.

We don’t live in a society with much strength, that’s why there’s so much chest beating. Insecurity.

We can change that though, by looking within our own selves and at our own mirrors.

It’s the first order of business.

Cemented Minds

Behind every oppressive ideological movement, whatever it is – left or right, religious or atheistic, black or white – there’s an idiot who takes the ideology literally and is willing to force others to conform to their beliefs. This is fundamentally selfish but few idiots see it that way. They believe.

There’s a fool every minute in the dark matrix, with its temptations of helping others by oppressing and hurting them (doing the opposite of helping). There’s a fool every minute with a materialistically fused inflexible mind who takes ideology literally. Those who can’t see the big picture shouldn’t be telling others how to live their little pictures.

Ultimately the only One that can see the biggest picture is the One and absolute source of all that is, ever was, and will be.

Regardless of reasons, good or negative intentions, anytime we try to control/conform/manipulate/afflict others we’re acting in defiance of that source. This never ends well, despite whatever darkness is tempting us down that road.

There you will find the source of all suffering and “karma”… and even that pain is there to alert us to the reality of our situation, that we’re doing things the wrong way or allowing the wrong things to be done to us.

It’s time to wake up before it’s too late.

Love Begins

Love begins in quiet recognition and appreciation.

Not the ego. Not “How can I use this person? What can they do for me?”. Not in building ideas of someone without actually listening to them. Not misrepresenting them, which even the bible symbolically alludes to with “bearing false witness”. The concept is ancient.

What love is, is timeless.

Be Your Own Hero

1384053_1408008249432094_47111134_nBe your own hero!

Be the conviction, honor, strength, truth of what YOU believe in.

Life is real. These aren’t silly ideas, these words aren’t out of touch with the “real world”. The “real world” is largely out of touch with the pulse of reality.

The “real world”, both its grueling pursuit of owning “stuff” and its inhuman streets, and its mindlessly distracting traps = out of touch with reality.

Reality is waiting for you in your naked wilderness, tearing away your illusions and gnawed to the bone of your conviction.

It’s miles away from the bullshit we fill our lives with. From the lies we tell ourselves.

The reality is we never know how long we have. You could wake up dead tomorrow. Then the question is how honest are you in this moment right now?

How in touch with yourself are you right now?

How aware of the moment are you?

Be thankful for your reminders.

When we complain about life being tough and painful we’re dipping our toes in the water. It’s a waste of time to keep doing that over and over. That’s why we complain out of frustration, not because the water is cold but because we feel stuck at the water’s edge.

We must each find the will in ourselves to plunge into that water or walk away and find another place to chart our paths. When you find that strength, whatever you choose with it and whatever direction you go, you’ll find true freedom.

The Self Thread

tree dance

Self authenticity is everything and what is the “self”? There must be universal threads in every self for the self to be referred to as the “Self”. The Self must be one part of the ever present holy trinity, however your personal framework of spirituality frames it. Not to be mistaken for religion and dogmatism of gods and devils which is another trap to keep the mind in dualistic division. The number three is part of many spiritual traditions, the trinity at the basis of life and creation. Life as a trinary circuit.

These threads must have something to do with being genuine, with integrity, with honesty, with personal responsibility and accountability. Basically all the qualities we need to cultivate in ourselves to access and truly know the “Self”.

Basically all the qualities that you won’t find on TV in public caricatures of empty importance. Those who have replaced their threads of Self with superficial enslavement, drawn themselves out of the trinity to draw themselves into a false matrix. The quo has already abandoned them, they have nothingness to look forward to when the transient ride ends.

We should really be savvier than that. We should implore ourselves to ask how we are part of the trinary circuit and how we can be most present in it which is to be fully alive (the path of Selfhood, the authentic self).

There is an eternal circuit for those who are honest toward themselves. For those who are ruthlessly compassionate with themselves there is the ecstatic nearly unbearable experience of being. There is light and there is dark, there is happiness and there is sadness, but those who find center find something greater than all sides of the coin.

There is the loop of infinity and creation alive in all living things. There is a matrix of substance and it begins within in the rumbles of self awakening that arouse your soul. It begins in every sliver that tells us we must look within and come to know ourselves. We must not just face ourselves but be willing to realize and experience ourselves so we know ourselves fully. Plant your feet on the Earth and be at one with your heart and the stars above, and you’ll know true luminescence.

The substance that connects us to eternity is within us but we must reconcile the pieces within. We must be courageous to face our egos, our undesirable and ugly sides that we deny, our shadows and repressed vulnerabilities and pains. We must brave the tests that the Self has set for us, in which to find it and let love find us.

This all boils down to the substance of the genuine self. The responsibility of the very being and awareness of the very breath.

There is no drug to deeply look within, there is no image or costume that one can put on to reach it. It’s reached in the sober moments and the quiet stillness of revelation.

This is the test, in your very breath.
